Cannot run Ack in Project unless file is open

When you open a project, it would be nice to be able to run AiP right away, but you have to open a file first, which is unnessary IMO. Is it possible to have to runable outside of a file (but still when a project is open?).

Unfortunately no, it's a limitation of how TextMate activates commands.
I believe full-blown plugins can overcome this but it would require a significant rewrite.
